Shilton 0 – 1 Bedworth United U21’s
The young Greenbacks lined up against Shilton in the Bedworth Nursing Cup Semi-final, knowing that a mature performance would be required to overcome a strong team from an open-age group.
The game was hosted at the Pingles Stadium, Nuneaton on a pitch that had obviously seen plenty of recent action.
Bedworth started brightly and enjoyed much of the possession in a strongly contested game that saw few chances at either end. Composure and a mature approach while in possession and out of possession saw the boys grow into the game and dominate the opposition who became increasingly frustrated.
A free kick awarded to Bedworth, following a late challenge, was converted coolly by Brandrick some 20 plus yards out from goal to make the score 1-0 at half time.
The half time team talk centred on the need to maintain composure and keep the ball moving to ensure that the opposition were neutralised.
HALF TIME: Shilton 0 – 1 Bedworth United U21’s
Strong periods of possession followed in the second half, but we remained wasteful in front of goal despite enjoying the lions share of the second-half possession.
The boys remained composed and professional despite the opposition’s frustration with the game, the referee, and themselves to see the game out and achieve the well-deserved win.
