Stu Storer at Brighton

You wouldn’t think that this Saturday’s Brighton and Hove Albion versus Manchester United premier league game would have anything to do with Bedworth United but Stuart Storer the current Bedworth United first team manager was guest of honour and received his player of the season award from 25 years ago on the pitch at half time.
Before he took the reigns at Bedworth United Stuart Storer had a successful playing career but his finest moment came 25 years ago with Brighton on the precipice of going out of the football league Storer scored the goal that kept Brighton in the football league and in the eyes of many Brighton supporters it was the springboard to where they are now.
Stuart now works in less grand surroundings at The OVAL home of Bedworth United where he starts his 9th year in charge being an A licensed coach, not only is he the first team manager but also a tutor on the very successful education academy program that is ran from within the club.
Stuart said “That moment 25 years ago will always live with me and whenever I get to visit Brighton the welcome I get is amazing,  But that was 25 years ago and now my focus is very much on Bedworth United, not only the first team but the club as a whole. I have always set goals in life be that in my professional career or since retiring from the game.  My current goal is to progress Bedworth United not only on the pitch but as a community club we currently have 32 teams playing under our banner both male and female from tots up to adult ages. The Academy has been a great addition to the local community allowing school leavers the chance to gain a level 3 academic qualification whilst also improving their football ability.  On the pitch my aim is to get the first team into step 3 of the non league football pyramid and cement our position there. We have been promoted 3 times into step 3 but haven’t been able to retain our place there but the direction the club is going I hope that in the next couple of seasons that can become a reality”
