Bedworth hosted Loughborough looking to carry on their unbeaten run.

The first half was a half of few chances with never goal really being threatened and the defences for both sides were definitely on top neither forward line could break through to get a clear sight of goal with both teams being restricted to shots from distance or looking to capitalise on set pieces.  As the half was drawing to close though it was The Greenbacks who were given the opportunity to take the lead when with 4 minutes to play the referee pointed to the penalty spot after new signing Tristan Dunkley was brought down.  Little did we know at that time how important to the game that the swimming pool end penalty spot was going to be.  Curvin Ellis-Sanderson took responsibility and after a bit of gamesmanship from Lewis King in the Loughborough goal the Bedworth number 9  silenced the keeper by sending him the wrong way and sending the home side in a goal to the good at half time.

The second half again saw little in the way of goalmouth action and with 15 minutes of the game remaining it looked like neither side was going to score in open play.  It was the referee though who had the biggest say in the game when on 77 minutes he pointed to the same spot again which after reflection looked like a soft penalty to give but it gave Loughborough a life line Kevin Da Silva Santos made no mistake and equalled the score.  If Loughborough’s first penalty looked a little soft 10 minutes later when the referee pointed to the same spot again for the 3rd time it looked more fortunate for the visitors than their first.  The same player stepped up for the away side and won the battle of wits with Sam Lomax and in the same manner as his first gave Loughborough the lead.  With the clock ticking down Bedworth had another strong appeal for a penalty when Loughborough goal keeper King held down Desean Martin after a goal mouth scramble but this time the man in black did had had enough of pointing to spots and waved play on.  Within seconds he blew his whistle and The Greenbacks suffered their first defeat in 5 matches.  Kyle Barnett was incensed by the referees final decision not to award Bedworth a penalty and saw red after the final whistle for voicing his disgust at the decision.
