Bedworth travelled down the A14 to face Histon with 7 of the successful Under21’s in the squad with only 9 first team regulars in the 16 Stuart Storer gave starts to Jack Wells and a debut to Ethan Baynham.
The first half started like a game of basketball with action at both ends of the pitch, Harry Wakefield had the best chance to open the scoring but his shot thundered back off the bar and Baynham could have had a dream debut but couldnt guide his volley on target. Ishmael Dawson playing as a right wing back put his body on the line to block a Wilkinson shot for the home side. With half chances at either end this game was definitly not going to remain goalless for long. It was Histon though who opened the scoring when a ball into the box from Lewis was claimed by Lomax but in going over players to claim the ball he lost his grip on the ball and it bounced out to the greatful Wilkinson to fire home. Histons lead could have been doubled a minute later but Dawson again made a great block to keep the score 1 nil Bedworth though responded within 4 minutes when Dawson this time turned from defense to attack after bundling his way through 2 challanges he delivered a perfectly lofted ball to the back post where Luke Rowe was on hand to nod the ball past the helpless Sam Roach in the Histon goal, Dawson again nearly turned provider when he burst down the right not only rounding the defender but the linesman as well to deliver a ball into the box which no green shirt could get on the end of. 10 minutes after the first goal Bedworth had completed the turn around when a ball forward found Wakefield who fired an unstoppable shot past Roach to give The Greenbacks the half time lead.

Most of the second half was broke up with stoppages in play with both teams giving away niggly fouls Within seconds of the restart Wakefield was down receiving treatment for a bloody nose which saw him play with no number on his shirt and some attractive facial additions of tissue bungs up each nostril. Elliott Parrot had made friends with the locals who thought he was going down to easy but it is hard to stay on your feet when you have had a boot to the head, between the fouls there was a bit of football played from the away side with the home side reverting to long balls to get themselves back in the game but the heads of Parrott, Wells and Bennett did a fine job in preventing this from coming to anything. Baynham after his heroics in the morning for the Under 21s understandably tired and was replaced by another player from the 21’s in Lewis Allton with 15 minutes to play. It looked as if Bedworth with their squad with an average age of 21 was going to come away with all 3 points but it wasnt to be in the last minute a scramble in the Bedworth box led to Charlie Lewis poking the ball home and becoming Histons hero on the day.
