Halesowen arrived at The OVAL knowing that if Spalding failed to win and they claimed all 3 points they would claim top spot in the Midland Division.
The game started at a high tempo with both teams looking to get on the front foot as soon as they got the ball but with both teams playing the same way they cancelled each other out for the majority of the half. With the referee being particularly busy with a lot of fouls the game became a very stop start affair. With five minutes to play Halesowen’s Kieran Morris went down in his own penalty box with no-one around him which ended up with him being stretched off and eventually leaving on crutches. Into injury time the first talking point of the game when a corner was swung in and Elliott Parrott went up with Daniel Platt in the Halesowen goal the ball ended up in the net but Bedworth were denied by the referees whistle when he had adjudged Parrott to have challenged the Keeper unfairly. The Bedworth bench and players were incensed by the decision but at half time the scores remained goalless.

Bedworth came out the second half the better of the 2 teams but could not find a way to penetrate a resolute Halesowen defence with Bedworth on the front foot though it was Halesowen who stunned the home side when a clearance found Simeon Cobourne on the Bedworth left the Halesowen man raced into the box and shot from a tight angle at Lomax near post the Bedworth keeper did well to block the shot but the ball fell kindly to Kieran Donnelly who fired the rebound home to give the visitors the lead. With the news that Spalding were losing 2-0 at home to Cambridge City the visiting supporters were in fine voice informing everyone that they were top of the league. This jubilation though only lasted 17 minutes in the 83rd minute Liam Murphy flicked the ball forward Desean Martin ran onto it and as he gathered it in on the edge of the box Evans slid in and caught Martins foot. The referee signalled for a free kick and after consultation with his assistant pointed to the spot. Ryan Nesbitt claimed the ball sent Platt the wrong way and placed the ball to the keepers left to equal the scores. Bedworth carried on their momentum they had built and in the dying seconds won a corner which was half cleared to Liam Lockett who lifted the ball goalwards only to be denied the winner by the crossbar.
