Bedworth travelled to Chasetown looking to extend their 6 game unbeaten run into the new year. The first 20 minutes saw a lot of hustle and bustle with the only real chance being a ball to Kirton which Lomax read well to come out and block from the resulting corner Lomax again was Bedworth savior with a save down low to his right off the head of Chasetowns McGinell. Chasetown were putting a bit of pressure on but the Greenbacks back line was working well and preventing the home side from creating and real chances. On the half hour mark it was Bedworth though who came the closest to scoring when a ball into the box was headed back across goal by Parrott and Locketts shot bounced back off the post to safety. Minutes later is was the Greenbacks again who had an opportunity to take the lead when the ball broke to Camwell just inside the box, this time it was Pond in the Chasetown goal who came to his teams defence saving well. Chasetown upped their game and started to take control with a lot of balls into the box which Barnett Parrott and Muggleton were doing well to cope with. Chasetown won a number of corners and it was from one of these that they came closest to opening the scoring when Shaw hit the post with a flicked header. It looked like the game was going to be a stalemate going into half time with the referee adding a single minute of injury time on. Bedworth won a throw just inside their own half on the left Muggletons quick thinking saw Nesbitt make a run and launched the ball to the Bedworth number 9 who beat the defender to the ball and slotted past Pond to give Bedworth a lead with mere seconds of the half left.

Chasetown came out in the second half determined to get back into the game and within 4 minutes were level. A freekick into the box was volleyed goalwards Lomax with a good save pushed the ball away for a corner, the corner was swung in and met by the head of O’Callaghan and looped into the top corner of the net to restore parity. Bedworth were on the back foot and Lomax was forced into 2 more good saves to keep the scores level. Bedworth were struggling to get out of their own half but were not allowing Chasetown any real clear cut chances. Bedworth on the break could have taken the lead again when a low Nesbitt cross found John but for a great last ditch tackle by McGinnel to prevent the Bedworth Substitute from scoring. With the clock ticking down Chasetown were putting the pressure on but could not break down the resolute Bedworth defence. Bedworth nearly won the game in the final 5 minutes when an elaborate Wynter back pass was heading goal bound but Pond did well to keep it out with his feet to save the defenders blushes. Final whistle went with honours even and The g=Greenbacks extend their unbeaten run to 7 games in their chase to get into the top 5.
