The Greenbacks travelled to Cambridge to take on Cambridge City who are sharing a ground this season with Histon. With the rain hammering down it was always going to be a tough game with Cambridge on a good run of form having won their last 3 league games. Bedworth started off by far the better of the 2 sides but were finding it  hard to break through the Cambridge rear guard. The they did George in the Cambridge goal was equal saving well from Lockett with his feet at the expense of a corner apart from that though Bedworth rarely troubled the keeper.

The start of the Second half followed the same pattern as the first but with more stoppages as Cambridge seems to up the physicality in their game and on numerous occasions overstepped the mark giving The Greenbacks the opportunity to put the ball into the box one such ball saw a goal mouth scramble which ended up with nothing but a corner to Bedworth. From the resulting corner though this time Bedworth  were given the opportunity to opening the scoring from the Penalty spot after a handball in the box. Liam Lockett stepped up and hit a god penalty low to Georges right which seemed to be going just inside the post but Cambridges man of the Match George dived full length to tip the ball away and keep the scores level. Cambridge then had their best spell of the game and seemed to be building a head of steam when with 20 minutes to go Cambridge gave Bedworth a man advantage when Ryan was shown a straight red. This stopped Cambridges attacking momentum and turned the game back in Bedworth’s favour again with time ticking down it looked like Cambridge had weathered not just the storm from the sky but also on the pitch to earn themselves a draw but in the 90th minute Eesa Sawyers drove forward and with Keen screaming for the ball on the edge of the box Sawyers pulled the ball back not the Keen but Lockett who’s first shot was expertly saved by that man George agin but the rebound came back to The Bedworth man who took a touch to round the defender and in the end it was Lockett who had the last laugh as he placed the ball into the Cambridge net to become the happiest and after his penalty was saved the gladdest man in Cambridge. Bedworth saw out the final 4minutes of added time with the last action being a Cambridge corner which George came up for but Lomax won the battle. claiming the ball and keeping a clear sheet tot secure Bedworth’s first back to back victories in the league this season. Maybe Sam Lomax penalty save vs Loughborough was that turning point needed after all
