Bedworth travelled to Halesowen last seasons 3rd placed side, for their first away game of the season with a good performance despite the scoreline on Saturday The Greenbacks were looking to build on this performance against another of the favourites for this season.
Halesowen were quick out the blocks putting pressure on the Bedworth back line early on but The Greenbacks back line repelled everything and didn’t give Halesowen any real sight of Sam Lomax goal. On 12 minutes though due to an injury to Sam Johnson Bedworth had to make an early substitution which saw Liam Lockett have to revert to a right back. Halesowen still looked to control the game and eventually the home side took the lead on the half hour mark in slightly fortunate circumstances. Colbourne picked up the ball from a half cleared corner and fired a shot in from the angle of the 6 yard box which took a slight deflection this wrong footed Lomax and went in at his near post much to the delight of the home support. The Greenbacks rallied and had their best spell of the half Haddow drove forward down the right from inside in own half and dinked a sublime cross to the far post where Luckie was waiting but Platt in the home goal just got his fingertips to it taking it off the Bedworth strikers head. Sawyers was starting to get a pit of joy down the left hand side with his pace having a shot blocked after a good run. Platt again came to Halesowen’s rescue when a free kick to Bedworth (after a scything tackle on Blythe went unpunished by the referee) was fired in to the far post again looked goalbound but the Halesowen number 1 managed again to just get finger tips to it and pluck it out the air.

The second half started in much the same way as the first with Halesowen on the ball but no real penetration. Bedworth could have equalised when a clearance by Platt hit Parrott and fell to the feet of Sawyers but the Halesowen keeper made amends for his mistake by pulling off a fine save to deny The Greenbacks an equaliser. The game then became a bit stretched with both sides having chances Halesowen hit the post and then Barnett then cleared the rebound off the line. The Green backs though were still working hard and a few half chances came their way which they couldn’t capitalise on. In the 67th minute it was Halesowen who doubled their lead when Hayward drove in from the left and fired a low cross across the six yard box giving Insall an easy tap in. Bedworth kept on trying to exert some pressure a corner was headed just over by Edjenguele a low free kick was put over by Murphy but The Greenbacks could not find that final touch to get on the score sheet.
