Sutton Coldfield travelled to The OVAL looking for their first away win of the season having drawn 3 and lost 1 of their 4 away games in the league so far this season. The Greenbacks were looking to bounce back from their 5-0 defeat against Belper at the weekend. Bedworth started well and were looking to play at a high tempo from the off winning a few corners which Elliott Parrott did well to get on the end of but could only direct his headers into the grateful hands of Gwilliams in the Sutton goal. Bedworth did show more attacking intent than their visitors throughout the first half but could not break down a resolute Sutton back line. Suttons best chance fell late on in the half when a shot from the angle of the box struck the bottom of Sam Lomax left hand post but rolled away to safety to send the teams in at half time all square.

Bedworth started the second half in much the same vein as the first by showing attacking intent but were struggling to find that final ball which would allow a shot on target again winning numerous corners but not being able to capitalise it. Then on the 54th minute Rich Blythe scored a goal which would grace any stadium. A ball was played into him about 35yards out he turned and set himself with his first touch and his second was a rocket of a shot that swerved to the keepers left and left the keeper stranded just watching in awe like the rest of the people in The OVAL. Bedworth carried on looking dangerous and Blythe himself could have easily had a couple more. It took Sutton Coldfield until the last couple of minutes to worry Sam Lomax in the Bedworth goal when a shot from just outside the box looked like it was going to nestle in the bottom right corner of the Bedworth goal but Lomax flung his frame down low to his right and saved not only the ball but the points for Bedworth.
