Lioness Laura comes home

This morning (Wednesday 11th July) we were pleased to have Laura Bassett at The Oval.

Laura Bassett is a former England Lioness who had over 60 caps for the national team. Domestically she played for Coventry City, Birmingham City, New York Magic (USA), Arsenal, Leeds United, Chelsea, Notts County and Canberra United (Australia) – but she started her fantastic career at Bedworth United girls!

The Bedworth United Management teamed up with Run Communications and Play Their Way to bring Laura down to The Oval. Back where it all began for her, to help inspire the next potential Lionesses from the Bedworth United girls section and some of the local girls from Race Leys junior.

Play Their Way is a grassroots coaching movement that aims to support coaches to give children and young people a choice in their experiences of activity, create space for them to voice their wishes and enable them to take ownership of their development journey. When you embrace child-first coaching every coach has the potential to transform lives.

The Bedworth United Management would like give a special mention and thanks to coaches that came down to help out today, the girls from our girls section, the pupils, their parents & staff from Race Leys, the media that came down for our event, the team from Run Communications and Play Their Way and of course Laura herself.

We as a Club were so happy to see Junior and Girls team player Jess line up for the nation anthem in a recent England Women’s game against Portugal.

Bedworth United are always on the looking to grow the Girl’s section and you are or your child is interested in joining one of our Girl’s teams, please do email Hayley Bennett on
