Joe Magunda Re-signs!

Bedworth Utd are delighted to announce the re-signing of key defender Joe Magunda. who has committed his future to the Greenbacks by agreeing terms for the 2024-25 season.

Magunda, who signed from Step 3 local rivals Nuneaton Borough, having featured in their 2023 play off final against Rushall Olympic, was an integral part United’s strong start to last seasons league campaign, which saw the Greenbacks top the league after 7 matches, achieving 16 points from a possible 21.

However, after breaking his nose in several places in the 2-1 home victory against league champions Spalding in February, he spent the remainder of the season on the sidelines.

Having started his professional career at Leicester City, Magunda went on to play for a number of successful non league clubs, including, Kings Lynn, Leamington, Stratford, Brackley, Tamworth and Nuneaton Borough.

Magunda has achieved Step 3 Championships with Leamington and Brackley, winning promotion to the Conference North League with both teams, as well as winning the Step 3 play offs while also at Leamington. When signed at Leicester City, Magunda won 19 caps for England at u16-u18 level.

First team Head Coach Jamie Lenton, who holds the Uefa A Licence, was pleased to secure Magunda for another season, adding.. “Joe was a big player for us in the early part of last season. He brings leadership qualities, experience and physicality to the team. He gives us options to play a number of different defensive formations, and his aerial ability is excellent. Hopefully, Joe will help us start this seasons league campaign in a similar manner to what we did last season, but this time, we need to sustain the consistency of our performances over a longer period of the season.”

Looking forward to another season with ‘Big Joe’ as a Greenback!
