Bedworth United v Nuneaton Town Match Report

Bedworth United opened up our pre-season programme vs neighbours Nuneaton Town.

The game started with both sides creating chances. Bedworth United took the lead scored on 8 minutes following a mistake from Nuneaton captain Liam Daly.

It allowed Leo Stone the chance to slot past the trialist in the Nuneaton goal to make it 1-0.

However, Daly went on to recover by getting the Man of the Match award for Nuneaton.

Nuneaton had the chance to level the score a few minutes later when Chandler Pegg latched onto a through ball but his shot was saved by Liam O’Brien in the Greenbacks goal.

The Greenbacks nearly made it 2 right on half-time after a header from Alex Dean.

A combination of the trialist goalkeeper and a header off the line by Daly kept it out. Another header wide from the resulting corner meant Bedworth only had one goal to show for their first-half dominance.

Half-time: Bedworth United 1-0 Nuneaton Town.

Both teams made a number of changes at the break with the Greenbacks changing all 10 outfield players. It made for a  second-half that never really got going although Nuneaton did take the game to the young Greenbacks

It was a good runout for both sides who gave a good account of themselves.

It gives Jamie Lenton & Andy Penny food for thought ahead of Tuesday nights game at home to Midland Football League Division One outfit Coventry Copsewood.
