Bedworth United v Halesowen Town Preview

Bedworth travel to Halesowen on Tuesday night looking to build on their performance from Saturday where missed chances cost them.  Although the better side for the majority of the game they could not convert the chances they created and were punished by Stamford who took the chances they had.  With a promising performance the Greenbacks will be hoping that they can carry on at the level they showed but this time capitalise on they chances they create.   Stu Storer goes into the game with a nearly full squad at his disposal with the only absentee being new boy Max Dixon. The fixture list has not been kind to Bedworth having to face all 3 teams that finished in the playoffs (Stamford, Halesowen and Chasetown) in the first 5 games of the season.

Halesowen started off their league campaign with a 3-1 away win against league new comers Harborough Town who The Greenbacks face in the FA trophy 1st qualifying round in September before they travel to them in the league in October.  Simeon Colbourne opened the scoring for Halesowen on the half hour mark with Josh Ezewele adding a second before half time. Nathan Haywood weighed in with the third to but the game beyond Harborough Town who grabbed a late consolation in the 90th minute.  Last season Halesowen finished 3rd in the league after sitting in the top 2 for the majority of the season but 2 draws in their final 3 games saw them drop into the playoffs where they faced Chasetown at home in the semi final and were beaten 1 nil by a 90th minute penalty.

Stuart Storer commented “Saturdays performance didn’t reflect the scoreline but if you don’t take your chances then you will get punished by the better sides.  We know going to Halesowen will always be a hard game as they are always well organised and the last few seasons have always been there or thereabouts come May.  I believe that as a squad though we can now compete with these teams and I will be looking for a response from Saturday.  The competition for places in the squad is high and if someone isn’t performing to the level we expect then there is someone waiting in the wings ready to take that shirt in the starting line-up.  I am looking forward to the game and am going into the game with a good feeling.”
