Bedworth United v Daventry Town Preview

Bedworth go into this game on the back of 2 defeats which have severely dented their chances of reaching the playoffs.  Daventry won on Saturday a 2-0 Home win that saw them lift themselves further away from the relegation zone.  Previous to that they had lost 3-1 away to Cambridge City, and before that a 2-1 home win against Spalding.  When The Greenbacks visited Daventry earlier in the season the home team ran out 3-2 victors in an ill tempered match which saw Bleu McNeil red carded for the home side and Andy Penny seeing red after the game for asking the referee on the day a question he did not like.

Daventry have improved their results over the last couple of weeks but their away record isn’t the best having only claimed all 3 points on their travels twice this season a 4-2 win at Histon way back in August and a 3-1 win at Sutton Coldfield in November.  On the goal scoring front Jack Bowen is Daventry’s top scorer so far this season with 9 goals including one in the reverse fixture.  Its not been scoring goals though that has been Daventry’s issue its keeping them out they have conceded a whopping 60 goals in their 27 league games this season.  Saturday was the first time that they have kept a clean sheet in the league all season.

The Greenbacks will be looking to bounce back to winning ways after 2 narrow defeats both of which have had vital decisions at vital times of the game go against them.  Stuart Storer will have Sam Muggleton back in contention for this game after serving his one game ban and also new signing from Hereford Owen Bennett will also be available. Owen is a Defender who was on the books with the Solihull Moors Academy before spells with Boldmere St Michaels, Coventry United, Barwell, and Rugby.
