Bedworth start their home fixtures by welcoming Barton Rovers to The OVAL tomorrow night. Barton finished last season on 44 points the same as ourselves but they had played 2 games more to reach that total. Barton have had an identical start to the season as we have winning one and most recently drawing 1-1 with Halesowen Town on Saturday after going a goal down to a15th minute penalty. Previous to that the beat Coleshill by a solitary goal. Like ourselves they have already been knocked out of the FA Cup losing 5-1 to Bowers and Pitsea from the Isthmian League Premier Division. Honours were even last season with Bedworth winning here at The OVAL and Barton winning the reverse fixture with supporters witnessing 11 goals over the 2 fixtures.
Bedworth have started equally as well as Barton with a well earned draw against St Neots after playing over half an hour with 10 men and followed that up with an away victory on Saturday against Wantage Town. Stu Storer has some injury doubts with Blaize Punter, Lynus King and Kyle Barnett all doubts. But with the strength of squad that has been assembled this year there is no doubt that the depth is there to deal with any absentees that there may be through out the season. Speaking to first team coach Jamie Lenton today he said “Barton will be a tough opponent having already taken points off one of possibly the top sides in the division but saying that we have come through our first 2 games and have shown that we are no push overs so I am looking forward to what should be an exciting game and if the last 2 encounters are anything to go by we should hope to see some goals”
