Bedworth host Aylesbury on Saturday in what could be described as a 6 pointer. Aylesbury are currently the team with the target on their back sitting in that coveted 5th spot. Aylesbury have been the draw specialist in the league this season having drawn 10 times out of their 27 games. When The Greenbacks travelled to Aylesbury back in November Bedworth took the lead only to be be pegged back 3 minutes after half time and then concede again thanks to a brace from the clubs leading scorer Sonny French. Aylesburys record reads won 12 draw 10 lost 5 with their last game being a 2-1 away defeat to North Leigh. Aylesbury will have recently signed striker Juwon Akintunde available for this game.
Greenbacks will have some fond memories from playing Aylesbury as in one of the promotion season Bedworth beat Aylesbury in a playoff semi final 2-1, to reach the final which they subsequently won to gain promotion. Bedworth will be going into the game with a fully fit squad after 2 draws in their last 2 outings Bedworth will be looking to get back to winning ways and take all 3 points from a one of their closest rivals. Bedworth will be looking to build on their last home game which was a creditable 2-2 draw against top of the table Berkhamsted. Bedsworth have now gone 4 games without tasting defeat and completed February unbeaten. Since the turn of the year Bedworths record reads played 9 won 5 lost 2 drew 2 so the form book is narrowly in the Greenbacks favour with Aylesbury having played 8 lost 3 drawing 1 and winning 4 in the same time frame. Bedworth will be hurting after having a win snatched from their grasp in the last minute at Bedford last week, The Greenbacks will need to turn these draws into wins if they wish to continue the push for a play off place. Having still to play the majority of teams in and around them in that push for a playoff place every game now must be treated like a cup final if The Greenbacks are to fulfil that ambition of a playoff place.
