Bedworth United are pleased to announce the start of their new academy.

The Football Academy Education Programme at Bedworth United offers learners a unique opportunity to achieve and realise their potential by  studying a full-time BTEC Sports Coaching and Development qualification alongside a developmental football coaching programme, where players will train 3 times per week with UEFA A qualified coaches at The OVAL on the 3G pitch.

Chairman Neill Rayson-Randle stated “This is something that I wanted to bring into the club when I first got involved and to see it now coming to reality is brilliant.  To give youngsters associated with Bedworth United and in the wider community the chance to progress as not just footballers but also careers in sport is amazing.  For me its not just about the football, giving youngsters the chance to gain qualifications and gain life skills through the academic side of the Academy is just as important as hopefully developing players to play for the club. I wish all students who undertake the programme the best of luck. 

Players will play competitive matches in the National League Youth Alliance or AOC College Leagues.  Progression opportunities include players developing their individual skills and striving towards the aspiration of playing for the clubs U18s who will feature in the FA Youth Cup, U21s and Bedworth Utd first team with a semi-professional paid contract.

All players will take part in weekly Strength and Conditioning sessions to develop physical core elements within the game, as well as strategic Speed, Agility and Quickness training to help develop and improve the fundamental movements associated to football. Players will take part in and record Fitness Test results, which will be monitored throughout the season and correspond with an individual fitness programme to improve fitness testing data.

All Academy matches will be recorded using the latest VEO Cam technology, which will allow coaches and tutors to access game footage to analyse performances. We will be using athlete management systems to safely track player performance to help optimize and adapt Individual requirements for football development. Players will learn about performance Nutrition, Anatomy and physiology, Coaching and Fitness and complete the FA level 1 coaching licence.

All players will have work experience opportunities to work directly with the academy and 1st team staff to experience many aspects of 1st team match days, contributing towards; assisting with tactics and coaching, video analysis, sports therapy and physiotherapy, media production, match commentary, hospitality, social media, security and stewarding and much more.

The course has excellent progression routes into Non League football, University and further careers in the sports industry.  We have close links with the local community who fully support the Academy and offer placements and work experience in a variety of fields within the sports industry.  If you want to be a physiotherapist, a sports psychologist, P.E teacher and numerous other careers in sport Bedworth United’s Academy is a great place to start your  journey.

All players will also complete academic studies in the form of a BTEC Level 3 Nationals in Sport Coaching Development is a two-year course, requiring 15 hours of study per week, which are fitted in around the football training. The vocational course explores different areas of employment in the sports sector, and is perfect for those aspiring to a career in sport. The course is equivalent to 3 A Levels and equates to UCAS points for university degree courses.

Bedworth United Football Academy Education Programme will strive to  provide a platform of opportunities for every player and learner to fulfil their potential. To be able to achieve this we will aspire to deliver safe, accessible, innovative and inspirational education and coaching to ALL of our students.

The Academy is open to 16 -18 year olds.

We are delighted to announce that the Academy will be be sponsored by “Everyone Active” this partnership will allow academy players the chance to use the facilities at Bedworth Leisure centre to improve and maintain fitness levels in their state of the art gym. It will also allow players the chance to use the sauna and pool to recover after matches.

With a wellfare hub and physio available to all students it will ensure that the learning experience at Bedworth United is not only a great progression route for young players but it is also a safe and secure environment for learning.
