Match report – Redditch United 2 – 3 Bedworth United U18s Youth
3-2 wasn’t our best performance last night, but we’ll take it and move on to the next round. It’s always nice to get a little cup run going. 🏆
We went into half-time 1-0 up through Ryan Francis, but in all honesty, the game should have been out of sight by then. We created plenty of chances, missed a few good opportunities and at times chose the wrong option when we were in good positions. That’s something we need to learn from.
Dylan Bharj then made it 2-0 from the penalty spot, before Kenzie Vorajee made it 3-0 after nicking the ball from the centre-half and calmly slotting it past the keeper.
At 3-0, the game should have been done, but then everything changed. They had a player sent off for an off-the-ball incident, and shortly after we conceded a sloppy goal.
From there, we struggled to keep the ball like we normally do. Every time we won possession, we gave it away cheaply and allowed them back into the game. They then scored with literally the last kick of the game to make it 3-2.
The scoreline definitely flattered them because, the game should have been out of sight in the first half. But we have to learn from the mistakes, take the positives and move on.
Onto the next round.
