Greenbacks make it three on the spin
Bedworth United made it 3 in 3 for the season on Saturday, defeating Shepshed /dynamo by a goal to nil in this Northen Premier League Premier Division Midlands encounter.
Building from their FA Cup Qualifying win against Belper United and the away win at Coleshill Town, the Greenbacks faced Shepshed, who had drawn their last game.
In the starting eleven, 4 players made their home debut, whilst Sam Lomax made his returning debut between the sticks. 2 players were also on the bench who made their debuts.
A tight midfield battle in the early part first half nullified each side. However, in the 35th minute Matty Shipman put the ball in the net from a sustained amount of pressure on Dynamos goal which included 3 corners. Rowe delivered the third corner only to be headed clear for a throw. Blakely put a long throw into the box, Shipman takes the shot and the dynamo keeper parries out, Elliot Parrott collects and crosses from the right-hand side, where Shipman makes no mistake in the 18-yard box. After the break, Bedworth keep pushing to extend their lead, Shepshed brought Lomax into action after a goal mouth scramble brought the ball out to the Shepshed forward who fired into Lomax’s legs. At the other end, Rowe, Korpal and Shipman were pressing for the extra goal to make things a little for comfortable for the Greenbacks, whilst the back line was dealing with all the attacks thrown at them. Towards the end though. Shepshed made changes and this seemed to help them push further forward. Bedworth defended well and as the final whilst blew, the cheers from the crowd were heard around the Oval to ensure 2 wins out of 2 in the league.
