Another season over, my 14th now. It’s been a long one with many ups and downs. Just a few weeks away from starting all over again, it soon comes around.
We are preparing already for the new season with the hope that we can make a better start this time. Looking forward to some good local derbies, hopefully against Nuneaton, Barwell and perhaps Coventry United or Atherstone.
It is nice writing this report in the knowledge that we have finally staved off the threat of relegation with our 1 – 1 draw on The penultimate Saturday at Rugby. In December we were bottom of the league some 14 points adrift of safety. What a turn around the last 4 months have been.
Thanks to Sarah and Stuart, my fellow Executive Directors’ . The amount you contribute to the running of the Club is incredible. I am sincerely grateful to you both. We all must give our thanks to Mark our General Manager, Secretary & Stadium Manager, Hayley our bar Manager, Kelly our welfare officer, for all their hard work. Will Hodgson and Becky Storer have stepped up this season with much needed assistance in vital areas.
Our management team led by Andy and Jamie have developed a young squad of players along with some more experienced players into a competitive unit that will progress even further next season.
Loyal fans have stayed true to the team throughout the year and are now witnessing the building of a good side. These supporters have my full praise, well done to you all. Your support is paramount to help this young team develop next season.
There are many facets to running a football club. It’s not just the players and management staff. It includes an army of volunteers who give their time freely to ensure the smooth running of the club on a daily basis. Ronnie, Sarah, Eve and John are the back room staff who make every match day run smoothly. The turnstile and security staff Stuart, Terry, Bart, Norman and many more. Zoe does a sterling job selling 50 – 50 tickets. I must give special praise to Kev Moore who travels from Liverpool every home match to man the tannoy system. Big thanks to Simon for all his help with graphic design, to Dave for his Match YouTube videos, Photographer Chris, Craig for Matchday programmes and match reports.
My sincere gratitude to you all
